To Rise
I dug my grave many times,
counted the breathless nights,
taught myself to be forgotten.
The darkness was too tempting, but also rotten.
I carried the same pain into different days,
until the dust of the past closed all the ways.
Something I’ve never felt before,
broke through the cracks;
as subtle as the dance of the sunrays.
That’s when I understood it:
I could no longer collapse,
And I had to rise.
